Let's Start at the Very Beginning

Well this is the first of hopefully many blog posts. I can't help but admit that I feel a little bit like a dumb-dumb for even having a blog. Not sure why, I love to write! So where to start??

My husband and I have been married for almost two years (time flies when you're having fun!). Most of our marriage has been filled with working and school. Thankfully, we both graduate this Saturday from college (insert happy dance here). I cannot tell you how excited we are!! I already have a full-time job as a government employee, but my husband will now be on the hunt for his career. I must say, it's weird to think that we are finally out of college and are 'adults'. I'm both nervous and excited about what the future holds.

We have a golden retriever/mix puppy named Duke. We adopted him from the humane society when he was three months old. He's eight months old now....and weighs almost sixty pounds! He's a big boy. And he is T-R-O-U-B-L-E. This is a picture we snapped when he was just four months old. Look at his cute little mischevious face!!

I must say, I was really nervous about how well the whole puppy thing would go. But this not-so-little-anymore guy has brought so much joy to our lives in just the few months we've had him. Dogs definitely are a man's best friend! Don't be suprised if over half of my posts are about something cute (or not-so-cute) he's done....

I can't say something about the dog without saying something about the cats....they would be mad at me. Ralph and Lauren (get it? hee hee) are our two darling kitty cats. Ralph showed up (someone abandoned him) at our house just a month after we got married. We had planned on just feeding him on the porch, but upon realizing that someone had declawed his front two paws, we let him inside. Ralph is also an animal that brings great joy to my life. He thinks he's a mountain cat. Seriously. He can jump almost five feet straight up from a sitting position. Lauren was dumped at my parent's house when she was just a kitten. We've had her for almost a year now. She is by far the goofy-est cat I've ever seen in my life. She has the body of a normal sized cat, but she also has short stubby legs. So she's not a very good jumper. Or runner. Really she's not good at anything except meow-ing her head off and biting my fingers. But that's okay, I love my little odd cat.

So how does an oversized puppy and two cats get along, you might ask. Well Duke and Lauren love each other. In fact, Duke may love Lauren a little too much. Duke and Ralph on the other hand....well, let's just say that Ralph has declared Duke as his mortal enemy. I really didn't expect that since Ralph got along with Lauren so easily. Duke loves to tease Ralph. And Ralph loves to jump as high as possible just so he can stare at Duke and torment him. And on occasion, Ralph will chase Duke across the living room. Yea, you read that right. My dog is afraid of a wanna-be-mountain cat.

Okay, enough with the animals (can you tell we love our animals yet??). We attend the best church. Seriously. And my Pastor is the greatest there is. Seriously. Along with his wife. She's the best Pastor's wife there is. Seriously. My husband and I are the worship pastors there and we LOVE what we do. I love being involved in such an awesome ministry and I can't wait to see what God does in our church. Our best friends, Johnny and Brooke, are the new youth leaders there, which just makes everything that much better. They are awesome people and I really think our youth group will go far with them. You'll probably see lots of posts about time spent with them as well.

Well I think that's enough for one post for now. I will try to do just one post a day for now and we'll see how that goes. That sound good to you guys?? So now, I will begin my tradition of leaving you with a Bible verse. I'll start off with my all-time favorite verse:

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'"  ~ Isaiah 6:8
